Hi, this is me

Hello, I’m Josie Marshall

I’m a Pelvic Health Physiotherapist based in East Lothian. It is my passion to help women reclaim confidence, knowledge and freedom from symptoms that affect their daily life.

My interest in Pelvic Health began before I had my own children where I worked briefly on the maternity ward as cover. I became fascinated with how the female body changes through the different stages of pregnancy and into the fourth trimester, after birth. There I was an Advanced Physiotherapist spending time on the Maternity Ward, working with Consultant Gynecologists and Specialist Urology Nurses to provide a holistic approach to helping women with pelvic floor dysfunction as well as running my own caseload of patients.

Then along came my own 3 children and I experienced first hand the challenges faced by so many women.

On moving back home to Scotland, I worked for NHS Scotland as a Specialist Physiotherapist in the Pelvic Health Team, providing assessment and support for

a) Pregnant and postnatal women with musculoskeletal/biomechanical pain e.g. back, hips, neck, shoulder pain etc

b) pregnant and postnatal women with bladder leaking, pelvic organ prolapse, pain with stitches and scars etc

c) women of any age suffering with pelvic floor dysfunction.

With a strong background in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy and advanced training in pelvic health, I understand the interplay between posture, movement, breathing, core stability and the pelvic floor. You are your whole body, not just a sum of the parts.

In my practice, I provide a warm, respectful and safe environment when you’re invited to talk about the issues you’ve been putting off. Whether it’s bladder leakage, pelvic organ prolapse, post natal recovery, pelvic pain, return to exercise or more, together we build a tailored plan rooted in evidence for what matters to you.

I’m here to guide you, answer questions you may have and help you put a plan in place to understand your anatomy and how it changes and adapts, feel stronger and have more confidence in yourself and your body.

I believe everyone deserves to feel empowered and well equipped to live their fullest life.
