C-Section therapy with the LymphaTouch® Pro

Your scar is part of your story. But it shouldn't be holding you back.

A caesarean section is major abdominal surgery, yet most women leave hospital with very little guidance on how to care for the scar beyond keeping it clean and dry. What nobody tells you is that over time, that scar can do far more than leave a visible line. It can pull, feel tight or numb, create an overhang, and cause internal adhesions that affect your core, your pelvic floor, and even your bladder. Sometimes years after the birth.

You are not imagining it. And there is help available.

New to LymphaTouch® therapy? The easiest way to try it is as part of a Mummy MOT®. If your scar is ready to be worked on during your postnatal assessment, LymphaTouch® may be used as part of that appointment at no extra charge. If your scar needs more dedicated attention, a standalone scar therapy appointment can be arranged from there.

What is C-Section Scar Therapy?

C-section scar therapy is a specialist treatment combining gentle hands-on techniques with the LymphaTouch® medical device (where appropriate), a clinically researched tool that uses precisely controlled negative pressure and high-frequency vibration to lift, mobilise and treat scar tissue, both at the surface and in the deeper layers beneath.

It is completely comfortable. There is no pain and no bruising. The device allows precise control of pressure, making it safe and effective even on sensitive, newly healed, or long-established scars.

Treatment can help with:

  • Tightness, pulling or a "dragging" sensation at the scar site

  • Numbness, altered sensation or hypersensitivity around the scar

  • The c-section "shelf" or overhang

  • A scar that feels stuck down or tethered to deeper tissue

  • Redness, raised or thickened scar tissue

  • Internal adhesions contributing to core weakness, pelvic floor symptoms or bladder issues

  • Pain during exercise, movement or intimacy linked to scar tissue

It is never too late to start. Whether your caesarean was six weeks ago or ten years ago, scar tissue continues to respond to treatment.

What is the LympaTouch® Pro?

The LymphaTouch Pro is an advanced therapy device designed to support recovery, reduce swelling, and improve soft tissue mobility.

Using controlled negative pressure and with the option of gentle vibration, it enhances the body to heal in a safe and effective way to help scars soften, fade and feel more comfortable.

How It Can Help After a C-Section

After a C-section, it’s common to experience:

  • Swelling around the scar and abdomen

  • Fluid retention in the body

  • Tightness or pulling in the scar area

  • Reduced movement or discomfort

LymphaTouch® works by gently stimulating the lymphatic system, which helps your body move excess fluid and support healing. This is especially important after surgery, as the lymphatic system can become sluggish, leading to swelling and discomfort

What does a session involve?

Your initial appointment begins with a thorough consultation. I’ll ask about your birth history, your current symptoms, and what matters most to you. A visual and hands-on assessment of the scar follows, looking at tissue mobility, sensation and any deeper restriction.

Treatment can combine specialist scar massage and LymphaTouch® therapy, all tailored to what your scar needs that day. You'll leave with home care advice so you can continue supporting your healing between sessions.

Most women notice a difference from the first session. Meaningful, lasting change typically develops over three to six sessions which is why a course of treatment is often recommended.

Supporting Your Healing Journey

Using advanced negative pressure technology, LymphaTouch® gently lifts and mobilises the skin and underlying tissue. This can help:

  • Reduce post-surgical swelling and fluid build-up

  • Improve circulation and healing

  • Release tight or restricted scar tissue

  • Improve sensation in numb or sensitive areas

  • Restore comfort and natural movement

Scar Recovery & Tissue Healing

C-section scars can sometimes feel tight, numb, or uncomfortable. Over time, this can affect posture, movement, and confidence.

LymphaTouch® treatment gently lifts the scar tissue, helping to:

  • Improve scar mobility and flexibility

  • Reduce tension and pulling sensations

  • Support better healing and appearance

  • Increase comfort during movement and exercise

Comfortable, Gentle Treatment

This treatment is:

  • Safe and non-invasive

  • Comfortable and gentle

  • Adapted to your stage of recovery

  • Suitable for sensitive, post-surgical areas

It’s designed to work with your body, not against it, giving you the support you need without adding stress to healing tissues.

How It Works

LymphaTouch® Pro uses a combination of negative pressure (vacuum therapy) and mechanical vibration to stimulate the lymphatic system and soft tissues.

This process helps to:

  • Increase lymphatic flow

  • Reduce fluid build-up and swelling

  • Improve circulation

  • Release tight or restricted tissues

The treatment is gentle, controlled, and suitable for a wide range of scars, including those which are sensitive.

  • Scar treatment can start very early on in your recovery.

Using the LymphaTouch Pro from 6 weeks onward, with a scar that has full closure, no scabs and no signs of infection.

  • Yes, when used appropriately, LymphaTouch is a gentle and non-invasive treatment.

Sessions are always adapted to your stage of healing, and we only work within what feels comfortable for your body.

If needed, we can also avoid the scar area initially and focus on surrounding tissues.

  • Not at all. The LymphaTouch® device uses gentle, controlled negative pressure, nothing like the deep suction of traditional cupping.

Most women find it very comfortable, even relaxing. Pressure is always adjusted to suit you.

  • Yes. After a C-section, it’s common for fluid to build up in the abdomen and surrounding areas. LymphaTouch helps encourage lymphatic flow, which can reduce swelling and leave you feeling lighter and less restricted.

  • Yes. Once your scar has healed past the acute healing stage it is ready to be worked on directly, treatment can help improve mobility, reduce tightness, and soften the tissue.

This can also improve comfort and how your body moves.

  • Many women experience numbness or altered sensation after a C-section.

Treatment can help stimulate the area to support improved awareness and connection over time, although this varies from person to person.

  • Everyone is different. Many women notice immediate softening and reduced tightness after a single session.

For lasting change, a course of three to six sessions is usually recommended.

We can chat about this at your initial assessment.

  • No. Scar tissue continues to remodel and respond to treatment long after surgery.

Many women come to scar therapy years, even decades, after their caesarean and can still see significant improvement.

  • We recommend staying hydrated and wearing comfortable clothing.

After your session, gentle movement and drinking water can help support the body’s natural processes.

  • Yes, if LymphaTouch® is appropriate for your scar during your Mummy MOT, I may use it as part of that appointment at no extra charge.

If your scar needs more dedicated attention, a separate scar therapy appointment will be recommended.
