Why Align Pelvic Health?

Here's the thing about pelvic health: it deserves a specialist. Not someone who fits it in between ankle sprains and shoulder rehab, but a physiotherapist whose entire practice is built around it.

Josie Marshall MCSP is the only physiotherapist in East Lothian who works exclusively in women's pelvic health. Every appointment, every treatment plan, every conversation is focused on exactly this.

Before setting up Align Pelvic Health, Josie worked as an NHS Scotland Specialist Physiotherapist within a dedicated pelvic health team, alongside Consultant Gynaecologists and Specialist Urology Nurses. She brings that same depth of clinical knowledge to every private appointment, along with the lived experience of having navigated her own pregnancies and postnatal recovery.

How it works

1. Choose the right appointment Not sure which service is right for you? If you've had a baby recently, or not so recently, and want a thorough postnatal check, the Mummy MOT® is the place to start. If you're dealing with pelvic floor symptoms at any other stage of life, the Women's Pelvic Health appointment is for you. Both are bookable directly online with no referral needed.

2. Your first appointment Whether you've booked a 60-minute Pelvic Health appointment or a 75-minute Mummy MOT®, it begins the same way: with a relaxed, unhurried conversation about your symptoms, your history, and what you want to get back to. A physical assessment follows, building a clear picture of what's going on. Any internal pelvic floor examination is always fully explained beforehand and entirely your choice.

3. Your written plan You'll be given a clear, personalised treatment plan, built around your life and your goals, whether that's getting back to running, managing day-to-day symptoms, or simply understanding your body better.

4. Follow-up and progress. Follow-up appointments track your progress, refine your exercise programme, and give you space to ask questions as they come up.

Scar Therapy & LymphaTouch® Pro - for C-section, hysterectomy and abdominal scars

Initial assessment & treatment - 60 minutes, £85

If your scar feels tight, numb, stuck down, or is causing discomfort that affects how you move, scar therapy can help. Using specialist hands-on techniques combined with the LymphaTouch® Pro — a medical-grade device using controlled negative pressure and vibration — treatment works to mobilise scar tissue, release adhesions and restore flexibility, both at the surface and in the deeper layers beneath.

It is comfortable, non-invasive, and suitable for scars at any stage — whether your surgery was six weeks ago or ten years ago. This service is offered for:

  • C-section scars (including the shelf or overhang)

  • Hysterectomy scars

  • Abdominal surgery scars

Follow-up session - 45 minutes, £75

A focused continuation of your treatment plan. Most people benefit from a short course of three to six sessions, though many notice softening and reduced tightness from the first appointment.

If you're coming for a Mummy MOT® and your scar is ready to be worked on, LymphaTouch® may be used as part of that appointment at no extra charge.
